The Witcher: Blood Origin

DNEG contributed VFX work to all four episodes of ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’, delivering 180 shots across 19 sequences as one of the key VFX partners for the series.

Our team was responsible for creating the full CG arid world environment where the mage, Balor, receives his powers. Not only was the arid world a fully digital and 360 environment, it also needed to look otherworldly while still anchored in reality to be believable.

For the pivotal ‘Trial of the Grasses’ sequence, our FX and animation teams created an intricate and complex network of magical roots and our compositing team used CG makeup tracked to Fjall’s face to show his transformation from Elf to Witcher.

We also extended practical set-piece monoliths with CG sections, and delivered multiple FX elements including portals, fire and magic blasts.
