For All Mankind - Season 4

In an alternative version of 1969, the Soviet Union beats the United States to the Moon, and the space race continues on for decades with still grander challenges and goals.

As one of the lead VFX partners on ‘For All Mankind: Season 4’, DNEG was responsible for everything that happens on the surface of Mars. Our VFX team delivered close to 200 shots, many of which were full CG, across all ten episodes of the season.

Our team built several large-scale environments for the show, including the extensive Happy Valley Base which was used in various sequences across the whole season and in several full CG establisher shots. We also created the icy Korolev Crater environment for both full CG and set extension shots, and the Peckinpah Mesa environment which also included digi-double animation work and FX dust and debris.

As well as these key environments, our VFX team also delivered multiple hero vehicle assets including the Mars hopper, transport rover and passenger rover, as well as a hero digi-double for Dev Ayesa and three variations of astronaut digi-doubles.
